Wildlife

Observing and photographing animals and birds in their natural habitat is a pastime that I thoroughly enjoy.

I enjoy the patience required to photograph animals and birds in their natural habitat. The waiting, watching, and immersing oneself in nature is a pleasure itself, and I am happy to spend many hours observing wildlife regardless of any photographic success.

The challenge is to capture fleeting moments that show life and character in the subject and I embrace the sheer unpredictability of events when spending time observing natural wildlife. There are no shortcuts and no instant results.

The images in this gallery are all taken in the north of England and in Scotland. I use Nikon equipment with the fast 300mm f2.8 lens being my preferred optic due to its sharpness and great low light performance.
